23rd Jun 2016

Afternoon lovely people, we've had such a busy couple of months! Here's what we've been up to and what we're getting up to next ;)

Apsara Dance Stretching Challenge

At the start of June we challenged you to pick a flexibility move you wanted to improve on, you chose either:

Front splits,

Box/Middle splits,

Cobra feet to head,

The challenge was to take a before picture, stretch every day and at the end of June post your before/after picture. The person who has improved most will WIN one of our American Apparel zip hoodies with colour & logo of your choice! This challenge is open to all of our dancers and any one in the UK.

We've already seen fantastic progress from so many of you & we are so excited to see all of your final progress pics!!

Don't forget to check in on Facebook or use #apsaradancechester on Instagram so we can see your pictures <3

The All Wales Pole Championship 2016

On Saturday 14th May we headed over to the Colwyn Bay Theatre, Conwy to support our dancer Hayley who has been dancing with us since 2010 and who competed for the first time at this same competition in 2012, taking 2nd place in the Advanced category.

After taking a break from competing Hayley returned this year making it to the final of the Advanced category with a Ninja themed routine. Hayley absolutely smashed it and we couldn't be more proud!!!!

She has also made it through to the final of Trixters Championships on Sunday 11th September so we'll be having a little road trip if anyone wants to come :)

Here's Hayley's awesome Ninja performance:

My Pole Journey - UK Workshops and becoming a Judge

This year I decided to take a year out of competing as I wanted to focus on expanding the business and finally finding larger premises. When I first moved in to our current studio in 2012 I planned to stay here for one year, build the business up and move to a bigger studio...... but then I started competing and it completely took over my life!

3 and a half years later and here we are. So the search continues to find the perfect studio for us, I'll keep you posted :)

This year has already been incredible for my personal pole career, not only was I honoured to become a UK Judge judging alongside top UK Pole dancers, I have also launched my first UK workshops which have been fantastic so far!

Judging so far:

Derby Inter-Uni Pole Competition - alongside the beautiful Nicola Ghalmi, Catherine Meadley & Annalisa Muresu

Inter-Uni Pole Dance Competition (IUPDC) - alongside Sam Remmer, Jade Tinkler, Sam King, Andi Ariseanu, Mari, Lauren Red & Aynsley Brittle

Bangor Varsity Competition - alongside Catherine Meadley

Next up I'll be judging Miss Pole Dance UK Amateur/Semi Pro on 23rd July in Bognor Regis. We are planning a road trip and a dirty weekend in Brighton after the comp so if you fancy joining us keep an eye out for the event on our Facebook page.

This year I launched two workshops Exotic Essentials & Crowd Pleaser Tricks - two things I love most about Pole.

Exotic Essentials focuses on sensual dancing & floorwork favourites like the Fish Flop & Forearm stands. Then I teach my choreography to a 2min routine.

Crowd Pleaser Tricks includes my all time favourite tricks including Fonji's, Handspring Cartwheels, Re-grips, Backflips & Sneaky drops!

In May I taught my Exotic class to the amazing dancers at Warwick Pole Society. The whole day was amazing and I was super impressed with how well everyone did. The feedback I received was overwhelming!

On Sunday just gone I went to Ioisis in Liverpool to teach Exotic & Crowd Pleaser workshops. I loved spending the afternoon with these Ladies, we had such a laugh and everyone worked so hard!

Thanks for reading!

Until next time,

RosaLisa x
